"My late father's watch had been in a drawer for about eight years. I had no idea if it still worked or even what it was. The evaluation report answered both questions — it turned out to be a post-war Swiss movement in surprisingly good condition. The report was clear enough that I could actually understand it without any technical background."

"The restoration took about nine weeks, which is longer than you might expect for a watch. But every week they could account for. The photographs at each stage were something I didn't expect — you could see the movement before and after cleaning, the hands before and after, all of it. My grandfather would have appreciated the care."

"I wasn't ready to make any decisions when I first brought the watch in — it belonged to my grandmother and there was a lot going on in the family at the time. The storage arrangement was exactly what I needed. I received a report and photographs last month and it's reassuring to know the piece is being looked after."

"I had a pocket watch that I'd been told belonged to my great-grandfather. Nobody in the family knew what it was or who made it. The evaluation identified it as a 1940s Swiss lever movement and the report included some background on the likely manufacturer. That was worth the fee on its own, before any discussion of what to do with it."

"The restoration was thorough and the communication was consistent. When they found that one of the wheels needed a replacement part they couldn't source immediately, they let me know before doing anything, explained the options, and waited for my decision. That level of transparency isn't common."

"I wore the watch to my son's wedding last month — it had belonged to my father and to his father before that. The workshop restored it well enough to run reliably without overpolishing the case or touching the dial more than it needed. It looks like a watch that's been looked after, not a watch that's been refinished."

Three Pieces, Three Journeys

A Post-War Pocket Watch, Stored for a Decade

The Situation

The client had inherited a pocket watch from her late father. It had been placed in a fabric bag in a drawer following the estate settlement and had not been opened since. She was uncertain whether it ran, what it was, and whether she should attempt to have it serviced.

The Evaluation

The piece was received, opened, and examined over the course of a week. The movement was identified as a 1952 Swiss-made lever escapement. The mainspring required attention but the balance wheel was intact and undamaged. A full written report was delivered with manufacturer notes and a clear account of the movement's condition.

What Followed

The client decided to proceed with restoration after reading the report. The piece was returned ten weeks later in working condition, with a complete photographic record from disassembly to reassembly. It now runs within acceptable tolerance for daily wear.

"I had no idea it was still in good condition. The report told me more about this watch in five pages than I had learned in the ten years it sat in that drawer." — Roslinda A., Putrajaya

A Wristwatch Inherited Mid-Estate, Decision Deferred

The Situation

During a family estate process, a mechanical wristwatch was passed to the youngest son. The family was not in agreement about its significance, and the owner was not ready to make decisions about it during what was an already complex period.

The Arrangement

The watch was placed into the long-term storage service. An intake photograph was taken, the movement noted as automatic and wound monthly. At the twelve-month mark, a condition note and three photographs were sent to the owner by email.

Current Status

The piece remains in storage in its second year. The owner has indicated he intends to have an evaluation conducted when family discussions reach a clearer point. Collection remains open at any time.

A Restoration Worn to a Son's Wedding

The Goal

The client's father had worn a dress watch at significant family occasions. It had not run in several years. The client's son was getting married in four months and he wanted to wear the watch at the occasion without having it look obviously refinished.

The Restoration

The scope was agreed in writing before work began: case to be cleaned lightly without polishing, dial untouched, movement serviced to running condition. Period-correct parts were sourced for one worn component. The project completed in eight weeks, inside the available window.

The Outcome

The watch ran throughout the wedding day and was photographed at the ceremony. The photographic record of the restoration now sits alongside the wedding photographs in the client's keeping.

"It looks exactly like a watch that's been cared for, not one that's been made to look new. That was precisely what I asked for." — Zainudin M., Putrajaya
